Chicago native, raised in Oakland, CA, Dred Scott was inspired by the works of legends like Nas, Erykah Badu & Marvin Gaye early on. Dred’s sound is a reminiscent blend of today's hip hop and yesterdays soul.

Former lead vocalist of Day of Champions and Argyle Sweaters, Dred has graced the stages of talent such as: Talib Kweli, The Game, Macklemore, The Cataracts, Chiddy Bang, Murs, Devin the Dude, Big K.R.I.T., Cobra Starship, Freddy Gibbs, Watsky, Blue Scholars, People Under The Stairs, Zion I, Kevin Allen & more!

In 2012 day of champions was nominated for San Diego's own Sun God Festival where they would compete and win the annual Battle of the Bands competition.

Now solo artist, Dred continues to deliver his fresh lyrics over live instrumentation through collaborations with two time Spike Lee featured Producer Kelly Portis and Groove Garden Studios.

Dred Scott pushes the artistic boundaries, blurring the lines between jazz, soul and hip-hop — Left Coast music like you've never heard before!
